Advertisers have to be just as careful about the content in the ad as the location. Take for example this ad for the Turkish Airlines. Not a very reassuring portrayal of their airline.

One of the best ads of 2013 in my opinion. For those of you who don’t know, during this year’s, 2013, NFL Super Bowl, half the lights in the stadium went out, leaving half the stadium in darkness. Within moments, Christie’s Oreo brand released a simple, yet extremely effective ad on the internet which caught the attention of many viewers. This is one of the best displays of responsive advertising, and something that many companies can learn from.

In 2012, Honda released the 2012 model Honda Civic, but after many complaints from consumers about cheap parts, and various other complaints, Honda had to quickly launch a new Honda Civic. This commercial introduces the new Honda Civic 2013, what Honda hopes will address all the issues found by consumers. The ad has emphasis on the theme “Things Can Always Be Better” which can be interpreted as a reference to their 2012 model. While their 2012 model was good, “Thing Can Always Be Better”.

Ads can sometimes bring people to realize the harsh realities of life that we often ignore. This poster is one such ad, launched in 2011 as part of Canadian charity Raising the Roof’s ad campaign. This Toronto based charity, in order to raise awareness of homeless youths, launched a national ad campaign that earned it a Silver at the 2011 Marketing Awards. This campaign included TV, radio, newspaper, magazines, transit stations and shelters, public washrooms, outdoor billboards, elevators, facebook banners, and much more.

The ad that kick started Toyota’s new slogan “Let’s Go Places” using a more emotional appeal towards the consumer. The narration and music, Tim Myers’ song It’s my Life” fit beautifully to make this a successful ad and launch to Toyota’s repositioning.

A lot of times, issues such as child neglect are brushed to the side. Leading to some, such as the Australian Childhood Foundation, to take more upfront approaches to get the message across. Does it work? Well, it certainly turned heads with this ad.

Sometimes its not about selling something, its to get a message across and to make a point.

I Am Canadian

Probably one of the most successful ads in Canada ever. Making great use of patriotism and perceived Canadian stereotypes to connect with the masses
